Spencer was a Junior at San Francisco State
University majoring in Business Administration & Finance when he
appeared on a special STARCADE! show. Spencer's show had ONLY two
games ... the main playing game was Pole Position II and the game played
for the Grand Prize was a brand new game from Atari TX-1, a multi-screen
driving game.
The score was close but Spencer managed to
take home almost every prize we offered on his STARCADE! show, including a
Pole Position II video arcade game. Spencer was a big winner on STARCADE! and
given all of his accomplishments, he was proof that video games were not
corrupting the minds of the young people who played them.

According to Spencer's bio
for STARCADE!, he "was President (and a life member in) the
California Scholarship Federation."
He was also "a
winner of the Bank of America Achievement Awards in Liberal Arts ...
received the California Savings and Loan League's Outstanding Student
Award ... and scored a perfect 800 on the Math portion of the SAT."
His hobbies included:
"photography, computers, football, and video games."
One of his video game
accomplishments was that he
had slain the Dragon in the laser disc video game Dragon's Lair.
Way to go Spencer! ... a real
Starcader!

When he checked in, Spencer told us that he
still has the Pole Position II arcade game and the White's Metal Detector
he won on the show.
According to Spencer, "For 15 years
(after the show), every day that I came home with quarters, I'd put them
in the Pole Position II, like a piggy bank. When I finally decided to
empty it and turn those quarters into 'real' money, it turned out to be
$1,100 (50 pounds of quarters)."
"Today I run Fireside Camera in San
Francisco ... we sell all sorts of video and digital products ... being on
STARCADE! was great fun (particularly winning) and I would gladly partake
in another episode."
We're working on it Spencer ... and you're
on our list of champion Starcaders!
