David was just 14 when he
appeared on Starcade! in the Summer of '83 and he was hot! He won every
prize we had so we invited him back for one of the Starcade! Invitational
Shows. He didn't take every prize home on that show but he did win another
enviable prize - a Colecovison.
In his first show, #64, David won the Grand Prize video arcade game, Munch Mobile but with David's agreement, we swapped it out for a Moon Patrol video arcade game. |
In the short bio David
wrote in '83, the said, "I like to sing and sang a song for Atari.
What I did was I went to an Atari demonstration and people could sing
songs and I did one. Well, the guy liked it so much that I got to come
back the next day and sing another."
About his game playing ability, David said, "I'm good at some game but lousy at others." Given the load of prizes he took home, he was obviously good at most of the games he played on Starcade! But according to David, he 'never liked that Donkey Kong Jr game.' He liked it even less when it cost him the Grand Prize in Show #78. |
Today David owns an advertisting/design
agency ... check out his website at http://www.purefusionmedia.com.
He's had several other brushes with show business since Starcade!,
including script writing and, today, song writing.
According to David, he found the Starcade! website while 'joking with one of (his) employees about a brief stint he (the employee) had on several TV shows," and David said, "somewhere in the world, there's probably a website floating around with a game show I was on when I was 13." He was right! Starcade! magic lasts forever. |
